Abstract
Effects of external loads and ground movements on pipelines have significant influence on the induced strains and thereby on the Strain Based Design aspects. The pipeline’s resistance to multi-axial load scenarios (internal pressure, along with induce pronounced longitudinal strains and multi-axial-stress states) is not fully solved yet. Full-scale testing is the only possible experimental way to determine the pipe behaviour in the plastic regime. The present paper addresses a full-scale pipe bending device developed and put into operation at Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung (SZMF). The Limit State Analyzer (LiSA) enables the experimental study of the strain-based pipeline behaviour subjected to internal pressure, axial and bending load.
